Born and raised in Michigan, I am Rachel Mills, a passionate baker and proud owner of Farmer’s Grain and I’s Bakery. My love for baking started in the heart of my childhood kitchen, helping my mom make birthday cakes, cookies, and holiday treats for our family. However, it wasn’t until my grandmother, Irene—fondly called “I”—passed away that I truly discovered the joy and comfort baking could bring. Grieving her loss, I turned to the kitchen, and it was there that I found my calling. In 2012, I graduated from Schoolcraft College’s renowned culinary program in Livonia, Michigan. It was during this time that I not only developed a deep appreciation for the hospitality industry but also met my husband and soulmate, Payne Mills. My culinary journey led me to Oklahoma, where I began baking bread for 501 Café, before returning home to Michigan to work with local businesses and even dabble as a barista.By 2017, I knew it was time to honor my grandmother’s memory and return to my roots in the kitchen. I established I’s Bakery, named in tribute to her, with a mission to craft baked goods that connect people to cherished memories while nourishing their bodies. On our homestead, we care deeply for the land and animals, ensuring that every pastry we make starts with the finest, most wholesome ingredients. This dedication to quality and tradition is at the heart of everything we do. My ultimate goal is to bring joy to every customer, creating moments of happiness through the simple pleasure of baked goods that remind them of home and childhood.Baking isn’t just my profession—it’s my passion and my way of spreading smiles
